52Frames ICM

The Photo Challenge for this week is intentional camera movement (ICM). I watched the resource on creating an ICM image and the main point seemed to be the wonders of creating an “abstract image”.

I came down to two pictures that I liked for this challenge. I’ve submitted the top picture (and titled it “Ghosted Piers”). The second image was more abstract, but at the end of the day, I liked the first one a bit more.

An intentionally blurry picture demonstrating intentional camera movement. The picture appears to have water at the bottom and two ghost like images of a bridge support.

This was my second choice. This was also taken at Casco Bay.

52Frames Week 7 Photo Challenge

Unexplored is the theme for this week. The bonus challenge was to involve a stranger. My choice this week didn’t include the bonus challenge.

Here was my choice for the submission.

Old City Hall for Augusta Maine is a red brick building in the background behind a train trussel. The Kennebec River flows under the trussel.

Other Considerations:

Here are the other considerations.

I was going to title this one, “Cupid Missed”. I found a random arrow embedded in a tree.

An arrow in a tree with a train trussel in the background.

While at the park, a group of ducks came swimming up the river. I got a few shots of them, but I like one of a couple of them taking off best.

4 ducks in a river. One is in the air, one is just starting to fly from the river. The other two are swimmingn in the river.

I’m not sure which church this is. I like the steeple, but am less thrilled with the storage container in front. Maybe when the trees fill in this can be a better shot.

A church with a steeple behind some leafless trees. Plus, two evergreen trees close to the church.

O Captain, My Captain

The challenge for week 4 of the 52Frames Photography Challenge was to recreate a movie scene. I thought about a variety of movie scenes. All seemed either impossible or unreasonable to recreate. I then went through a few that were reasonable, but didn’t quite feel right.

After a bit of thinking, I decided upon the ending scene of Dead Poet’s Society. In that scene, the students stand on their desk, well, most of them do, in homage to their teacher.

I decided to ask a friend to stand on the desk. Quite frankly, I didn’t want to take too much of his time, so this was a quick shot.

I fulfilled the challenge, but I really didn’t push myself much. Partly, this was due to not wanting to take up much valuable time from someone else.

52 Frames Week 3

This week in the 52Frames photo challenge, Black and White was the theme. The bonus was to use film. I was out on the bonus. I had several black and white candidates that I took. I tried to get a shot of the trawler that was beached in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. I couldn’t get any good pictures there, but I did a lighthouse picture.

Ideally, I think that I could’ve gotten something with more contrast. I’m not unhappy with this one though. I think the pure white of the lighthouse and building works.

52 Frames

As noted earlier, I’m participating in the 52Frames Photo Challenge. This is my Week 2 submission:

An iron post in a river with the numbers (25 & 30) to mark the level of the water. Water is rushing by and blurred via a long exposure.

The subject was a new technique. I picked a long exposure to convey the power of the water. I like the framing with the water levels marked at 25 and 30 feet.

52 Frames

I’ve joined the 52 Frames Photo Challenge. The idea is to take a photo a week that fits the challenge. The first week is a selfie. So, I have my assignment for tonight (since this is a weekly challenge, the first submission is due by January 7th).

I’ll link to my submissions each week as well. I’ll have to see if I can commit and keep up with the submissions.

I am looking forward to the challenges though. I enjoy photography and want to get better at it.

The Year in Photos

Photography is a hobby for me. It is something that I’ve picked up later in life. As I try to learn more about good photography, I enjoy the “best” lists.
